So, Sanchonino got me started on this with the guilty pleasure article. It's appropriate since the new (last?) Star Trek Movie is in the works. Do you love or hate Star Trek and why? What's Your Favorite Star Trek Series? What;s your least favorite? Are you a Trekkie (If you cried when they auctioned off the sets and wardrobe, trust me you are)?

Anbody else see this? Link They deserve themselves. Sadly, it'll probably be a success, boring, but a success.

Well, I've been home sick today. Yes, really. Wasn't feeling real well yesterday, but after taking the trash to the curb, I sat down to have my morning coffee, and after one sip...bang zoom, I set a standing broad jump over the dog to pray to the porcelain god. Now either I really need to clean out that coffee maker, or it's the flu. Momma says "you're hot" I gave her my best sly smile and said "wanna make it 8?" She says "bed" and of course I had to say "wow you're fast!" I got her point whe...

Good googly moogly Martha! I go away from J/U for awhile and there's a total break with reality. I just skimmed over various articles and their related replies and I'm just shaking my head in disblief. Perhaps it's my impression of a blog; kind of a quasi newspaper/magazine article diary sort of thing with a "Letters To The Editor" thrown in. I used to work for AOL as a Remote Tech in their old Tech Live area (back when your phone bill was billed for your on line time...hey any way you ca...

It's been played through before, but I'm curious what other's observations might be. From subtle to not so subtle changes in everything from global warming to increases in persecutions, locutions, apparitions etc. Are we about there yet? Are the branches growing tender on the old fig tree? Should we start carrying our coats to the roof top? I'm looking for personal impressions, not a sermon or evangelization. Whadda ya think?

It's 4:00 PM here (1600 for my military bretheren). Sergeant mom has been up since 3:00 AM to line up outside the stores. On Black Friday no less. It's 14 degrees outside! What could possibly be worth all that self infflicted aggravation? I'm beginning to suspect we refinanced the house not for a lower interest rate, but to finance Christmas! I think I'll be afraid, very afraid. I wonder what she got me?

I'm in the process of rethinking my position on the whole Iraq situation. Please take note, I have not stated what that is, so do not attack me out of hand. I'm trying to divorce myself from emotional reactions on this issue, learn as much as possible, and understand the various points of view. That being said: I'm curious as to what other J/U bloggers think about this sensitive topic. 1. Withdraw within 6 months or later? Why? 2. What do you think would happen when we withdraw? ...

I never cease to marvel at first snowfall that "sticks". I got up and let the dogs out and was greeted with a hushed white landscape, giant fluffy white flakes falling. Makes me kind of glad I missed the weather news, it would have ruined the surprise. Well, back to reality, time to shovel and brush off the car before work.

Whilst doing an inventory of Christmas decorations and bric a brac, what to my wondering eyes should appear? It couldn't be! But yes it was! I smiled so hard my face hurt. Immeadiately I was taken back to another time when the hardest thing in life was trying to sleep on Christmas Eve, ( well ok, waiting for the final school bell to ring ranks up there too). Some way, some how, mom maybe? There in the bottom of a box of decorations, ones obviously not touched in quite a few years, was an old ...

So here we are on the brink of what is normally a four day weekend for a lot of folks. Around here with a blended family consisting of adult children, under 18s, step parents, in-laws, 2 dogs and a partridge in a pear tree, it's chaos. Are we entertaining? Who are we visiting? Who's coming? What time? No, 2:00 isn't good, how about 4:00? By the time it's all over, including black friday, and putting up the Christmas decorations, it's Sunday evening, and work is looming. What ever happened to ...

I just returned from taking my second oldest son to the airport. Michael is a newly minted Corporal in the Army. He was home for ten days on his final block leave before his unit rolls out to Iraq. He's headed to the Sunni Triangle. I won't get more specific, and am making a concentrated effort to self censor myself from using specifics. I work in military circles and it's too easy to forget what is commonly discussed at work is not necessarily for public consumption. Ours is an Army househol...

I'd like to appologize to those people I engaged in discourse with and suddenly left hanging. Life kind of gets in the way sometimes. Those few moments I did have time to jot a few lines, I was bedeviled by an intermitent computer problem. I finally tracked it down to a failing hard drive that caused some power spikes and drags, and, believe it or not, to rearranging the furniture! I finally broke down and got a plasma HDTV and joyfully discovered that I could use it as my PC monitor as well....

My appologies if this has made the rounds already. (J/U seems to be going through some changes and the search feature isn't working at present.) Sony Corporation Audio CDs, (and potentially DVDs), are installing a Rootkit in the name of Digital Rights Management on your Windows, (so far), based PCs. I've been following this story on the tech sites and I urge everyone whom reads this blog to please follow the links below and at least gain a working knowledge of what is going on. I won't bog t...
